    Course Profile

    The demand for care workers is ever growing.  Are you working in or planning to work in the adult care sector?  This qualification is what you need and will support you to develop the knowledge and skills required to work in a range of clinical healthcare support settings and adult care environments.

    The qualification is formed of mandatory and optional units. The mandatory units cover core competencies while the optional units allow learners to choose from a variety of areas to tailor the qualification to their needs, interests and to reflect the context of their work.

    The Diploma in Care course covers a wide range of areas including dementia awareness, mental health and well-being, supporting individuals with their physical and emotional care, daily living needs and healthcare procedures.

    The content of this course is also aligned with the knowledge and skills required for the Adult Care Worker and Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship standards.

    Course Content

    This programme has a requirement to achieve a minimum of 46 credits to gain the qualification. 24 credits gained from the mandatory units listed below and a minimum of 22 credits can be gained from the optional units.

    Progression

    Upon completion, learners can enter either the adult care or health workforces. The course is applicable to a variety of roles, including:

    • Adult care worker
    • Healthcare assistant/support worker
    • Personal assistant.
    • Progress to do a Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care.

    Learners studying for the Diploma in Care will be expected to develop the following skills during the programme of study:

    • The ability to read and use appropriate literature with a complete and critical understanding of the ability to think independently and solve problems
    • Apply subject knowledge and understanding to address familiar and unfamiliar problems
    • Recognise the moral and ethical issues of health and social care practice and research, appreciating the need for ethical standards and professional codes of conduct.

     Course Profile

    Leaders in the adult care sector are harder to find.  However, the demand for such learners to guide and support the vital work of the sector is even greater.  Are you currently working in the adult care sector and is now looking for your first leadership role? This qualification is just what you need.

    This qualification develops the knowledge and skills needed when working in a lead adult care worker role in care settings. It covers a wide range of areas including supporting individuals with their physical and emotional care, daily living needs and health and social care procedures. This qualification also aligns to the Apprenticeship Standard for Lead Adult Care Worker.

    Course Content

    This programme has a requirement to achieve a total of 58 credits for the Diploma, with 35 of these credits being at Level 3 or above. All learners must complete the 9 mandatory units listed below, thereby achieving a total of 28 credits and a minimum of 30 credits from the optional units

    Higher education

    Progression to higher level studies

    Level 3 qualifications aim to facilitate progression to higher level study, which requires knowledge and skills different from those gained at levels 1 and 2. Level 3 qualifications enable learners to:

    Course Profile

    This qualification is designed to support the development of registered managers of adult social care services. The qualification provides learners with the knowledge and skills needed to work in adult social care and to have responsibility for leading and managing a service. This will include managing and improving care and support for individuals accessing the service, supporting and developing the workforce, and driving the vision for their service or organisation.

    This qualification is most suitable for those working in a managerial role in adult care settings who are looking to progress their career. It is also appropriate for managers who have not yet achieved a vocational qualification at level 5.

    Learners will need to be working in a managerial role in an appropriate setting to be able to study for the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care as they will need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.

    While there are specific requirements for each course in general the basic requirements for a programme is:

    • Currently, live in England    
    • Resident in the UK with a Visa for the duration of study    
    • Must be aged 18+

    Delivery Model And Duration

    All programmes will be delivered using one of the following methods:

    • Face to face in a classroom
    • Online using MS Teams

    The duration of programmes will also vary based on their level and type.  Typical durations are:
