Course Content
This qualification aims to provide you with the introductory knowledge and skills they need to operate as a successful business administrator. It will also allow you to develop skills in a range of areas relevant to business administration roles.
The mandatory units of study include:

· Health and safety in a business environment
· Principles of business administration
· Work with others in a business environment
The optional units give you the opportunity to learn about meeting and welcoming visitors in a business environment, how to manage time and workload, use of a telephone and voicemail system, and handling mail. The opportunity is also there to learn how to prepare text from notes, use email and office equipment, store and retrieve information, produce business documents using word processing software. Finally, you will learn how to deal with customer queries, requests and problems and your employee rights and responsibilities.

This qualification consists of 5 mandatory units and 13 optional units.  The mandatory units will help you gain skills and knowledge in the following areas:

Unit 01 Understand working in a customer service environment (3 credits)

Unit 02 Communication in customer service (2 credits)

Unit 03 Principles of personal performance and development (3 credits)

Unit 04 Principles of working in a business environment (4 credits)

Unit 05 Work with others in a business environment (2 credits)

You’ll understand how to work effectively with others, maintain standards of performance and follow organisational policies, procedures and legal requirements.

The optional units give you the opportunity to learn about recording and processing information, recording details of customer service problems, dealing with customer queries and after-sales needs, written communication, telephone techniques, managing your time and workload, meeting visitors, sales activities, contact centre systems and technology, and health and safety.

You’ll gain an understanding of the customer service role and be able to identify the different customers and their needs and be able to resolve problems. You’ll develop communication skills and understand different methods of communication when dealing with your customers. You’ll develop knowledge of your rights and employer expectations, and you’ll learn how to manage your own development needs. You’ll increase your knowledge of different business organisations and understand the importance of environmental sustainability. You’ll learn how to support equality and diversity in the workplace and understand the importance of confidentiality in the workplace.

  • Deliver Customer Service: is all about preparing to deal with customers, providing customer service and supporting improvements to customer service delivery. Certificate in Team Leading – Level 2

Course Profile

Are you leading a team for the first time or wanting to become a team leader or supervisor? The Team Leading qualification is targeted at new and aspiring team leaders to support their development of knowledge and skills in leading a team. 

You will develop knowledge around the principles of team leading and the general workings of a business as well as how important it is for a team leader to be able to successfully communicate with a range of stakeholders.

Course Content

You will complete three mandatory units and then choose others based on your areas of interest. The first three units are mandatory ones. 

Unit 1: Understanding the Role of the Team leader

You will gain an understanding of the characteristics needed to become an effective leader and the benefits to an organisation of having effective leadership. You will understand the different leadership styles and how the impact that each style has on team members

Unit 2: Principles of Developing Team Performance

Teamwork is important in many organisations and the success of an organisation is often reliant on the effectiveness and efficiency of its teams. Teams can be utilised for a range of purposes and will often go through different stages before they are a united group focusing on the same objectives. In this unit you will gain an understanding of the purpose of different teams and the stages of team development

Unit 3: Understand Personal Development 

In this unit you will learn that personal development is a lifelong process and that it is a way for you to assess their skills and qualities, consider your aims in life and set goals in order to realise and maximise your full potential. The unit looks at the processes used to identify the skills needed to set goals for personal skills, learning, development and career progression. Knowledge and understanding of these processes will increase your employability prospects

Unit 4: Principles of Managing and Supporting Team Members

Teams work in different ways and the team leader needs to understand the best ways to support individual team members fairly and consistently through difficult times and periods of change, and how to resolve conflict within the team. Understanding these principles will help those who are planning on entering a team-leading or management role. You will cover the importance of communication in the workplace, including written and verbal methods. You will also learn about the important roles of mentoring and coaching in developing a team. An important part of managing is knowing what motivates the team, and this is explored including the techniques used to motivate

Unit 5: Principles of Business Planning and Reporting

An important element of the management role is to efficiently organise, plan, review and monitor the use of all available resources so that the organisational objectives can be achieved. You will gain an understanding of the importance for an organisation to manage their finances efficiently and the consequences of any mismanagement of financial resources. You will be introduced to the documents and procedures that are used to report and analyse organisational finances and the unit will provide an introduction to budgeting and the process involved in managing a budget.

Unit 6: Principles of Managing Health and Safety in the Workplace

As a team leader or manager, it is important to not just understand how to minimise risks to your team, but also how to improve the processes in relation to managing risks.  You will learn about the health and safety legislation that organisations have to apply. It is the organisation’s responsibility to maintain a healthy and safe working environment and knowing how to do this is vital, but all members of an organisation have roles to play in keeping a workplace safe. You will learn about areas of responsibility for employers and employees

Unit 7: Employee Rights and Responsibilities

You should be aware of and know the rules, principles and regulations governing employment rights and responsibilities to ensure they understand the importance of how these conditions apply to their working environment. You will be shown and have the opportunity to discuss various employment documentation, such as contracts of employment, payslips, terms and conditions of employment so that they will be able to recognise and understand the importance of each one.  This understanding protects both the employee and the employer, ensuring that work practice is undertaken in a mutually respectful and safe environment.

Course Content

You will study a wide range of units that will allow you to deepen your understanding of the business sector. The mandatory units include key topics such as:

Unit 1: Exploring Business

You will study the purposes of different businesses, their structure, the effort of the external environment, and how they need to be dynamic and innovative to survive.

Unit 5: International Business

You understand how the role of management and leadership in the workplace contributes towards business success and you will examine how businesses adapt their approaches to management in response to challenges in their environment.

Entry Requirements

While there are specific requirements for each course in general the basic requirements for a programme is:

  • Currently, live in England    
  • Resident in the UK with a visa for the duration of the course
  • Must be aged 18+

Delivery Model And Duration

All programmes will be delivered using one of the following methods:
